About the Conference

The organizing Consortium of the Chilean Commercial Law Conference — made up of the Law Faculties of Universidad de Chile, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Los Andes, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Universidad de Concepción, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Universidad Católica del Norte and Universidad del Desarrollo — has entrusted the organization of the XVII Chilean Commercial Law Conference to the Faculty of Legal Sciences of Universidad Católica del Norte.

The Conference will be held on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October 2026 at the School of Law of Universidad Católica del Norte, Coquimbo campus, located at Larrondo 1281, Coquimbo. It will offer a space for reflection and dialogue on matters of Commercial Law, through presentations of up to 15 minutes followed by debate.

Call for Papers

Those interested in presenting their research and/or work should send a paper proposal to the email address jornadas.der.comercial@ucn.cl. The email subject must state “Paper proposal — XVII Chilean Commercial Law Conference”, followed by the author’s surname.

The proposal must include the presentation title and an abstract of no more than five letter-size pages, with a reference bibliography. It must also include the author’s information (full name, academic degree, academic affiliation if applicable, and email address).

Submission deadline: 15 August 2026. All proposals will undergo peer review to determine those selected for presentation at the Conference.

Selection criteria

Originality and creativity of the proposal and its potential to generate discussion.
Preference will be given to unpublished work.
Only one proposal per person will be accepted.

The Academic Committee will announce the peer-review results on 11 September 2026 and the final programme on 30 September 2026. The committee reserves the right to reject proposals.

Presentations

Once notified that their proposal has been accepted, authors will be informed of their inclusion in one of the presentation panels, which will be held in person at the School of Law of Universidad Católica del Norte, Coquimbo campus. Each presentation must last no more than 15 minutes.

Publication of Proceedings

The Conference Proceedings will contain the final text of the papers selected for presentation and will be published in a duly edited book. After the Conference, speakers must submit an article based on their presentation, meeting the following formal requirements:

Length: minimum 10 and maximum 20 letter-size pages.
Font: Times New Roman 12 for the body, 10 for footnotes.
Line spacing: single.
Margins: 2.5 cm top and bottom; 3 cm left and right.
Citation system of the Revista de Derecho (Coquimbo), available at revistaderecho.ucn.cl.
Article submission deadline: 15 January 2027.

International keynote

Professor Arianna Andreangeli (University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom) — Professor of Competition Law at Edinburgh Law School. Her research focuses on EU and domestic competition law, in both its substantive and procedural dimensions, market regulation and economic freedom, and the balance between open, competitive markets and the State’s regulatory power to address market failures.
